Moving Abroad

Translation With Apostille For Moves Overseas

Apostille requests nearly always mean a big change in another country. A new home, job, marriage or passport. These are the moves where apostille and translation come up most in our enquiries.

  • Residence And Long-Stay Visas

Residency and long-stay visas abroad often ask for a UK criminal record check carrying legal proof. A translated police certificate for residency abroad can travel with the apostille layer in the same order.

  • Citizenship By Descent

Italian citizenship files can hold three generations of records. A birth certificate translation and apostille is usually needed for each ancestor, ready for the consulate or the comune.

  • Marrying Abroad

Town halls in Greece, Spain or Italy want proof you are free to marry. If you were married before, a divorce decree translation for remarrying abroad often needs the apostille layer too.

  • Teaching And Study Abroad

Overseas employers and universities often want degrees apostilled before they accept them. We translate the degree and transcript, then add the apostille layer so the set travels as one.

  • Business And Property Abroad

Selling property or setting up a company abroad may need apostilled powers of attorney and board papers. Our company document translation for foreign registries can carry the apostille layer.

  • Jobs And Residence In The Gulf

Employers in the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait usually want degrees and marriage certificates attested. The route runs notary, FCDO, then that embassy in London. Some Gulf offices prefer an Arabic version made locally, so we check before translating.

  • Registering A UK Birth Abroad

Parents from Spain, Italy or Portugal often register a child born here with their own consulate. The UK birth certificate usually needs an apostille and a translation, and the consulate's checklist decides which one carries it.

  • Estates Settled Abroad

A UK death certificate, will or grant of probate may be needed to release a bank account or property overseas. Foreign notaries usually ask for these with an apostille and a translation into their language.

The Finished Set

Apostilled Translation Services: Every Layer In The Finished Set

A certified translation with apostille is built in three layers, each one checking the layer below. Here is what each part adds, and what it does not. Everything arrives fixed together as one set.

  1. 01Layer One: TranslationThe full text in the new language, plus a signed and dated accuracy statement, our stamp and a reference number.
  2. 02Layer Two: Notarial CertificateA UK notary public confirms the translator's identity and signature, then adds a certificate and seal.
  3. 03Layer Three: ApostilleThe FCDO checks the notary's signature and attaches an apostille. It confirms the signature, not the wording of the translation.
  4. 04Copy Of The OriginalWhere the country asks for it, a copy of your original is joined to the set so the reader sees both together.
  5. 05Paper Set And ScanThe official set is on paper and comes by post. We also email a scan you can share while the paper travels.

Choosing A Route

Legalised Translation UK Routes Matched To The Destination Country

Start with where the document is going, not with the strongest option. Some readers accept a notary alone, others want an apostille, and a few want embassy legalisation. Legalised translation services cover all three.

Order Route

Translation And Apostille Services UK, Stage By Stage

You send one scan and we deal with three offices. Translation, notary and FCDO happen in that order, and you hear from us at each hand-over. This is how a translation and apostille order runs.

  1. 1

    Name The Country

Upload a clear scan and tell us the destination. We check the route and quote every layer within the hour.

  2. 2

    Translation And Checks

A translator works through every page. A second linguist then reads it beside the original before any signature goes on.

  3. 3

    Notary, Then Apostille

A UK notary signs and seals the set. It then goes to the FCDO, which attaches the apostille.

  4. 4

    Posted To You Or Abroad

The finished set is posted to your UK address or straight to the office abroad. A scan comes by email first.

Itemised Costs

Apostille Certified Translation Costs: Page Rate Plus One Document Fee

A certified translation apostille order has two parts: the translation, priced per page, and the apostille, priced per document. The apostille price already covers the notary, so the two fees never stack.

  • Certified Translation

    £24.99 per page

The first layer, priced by page

  • Notarised Translation

    £69.99 per document

Notary step only, for readers who want no apostille

  • Apostille

    £129.99 per document

Covers both the notary and FCDO stages

What moves the final figure

  • Number Of DocumentsNotary and apostille fees are per document. Two certificates need two apostilles, even if each is only one page.
  • Pages To TranslateTranslation is charged by the page. A twelve-page deed takes far more translator time than a one-page birth record, so its translation line is higher.
  • Destination RulesApostille countries need one government stage. Countries outside the convention add an embassy stage with its own fee.
  • Where It Is PostedPosting within the UK is simplest. Sending the set straight to an office abroad by tracked courier adds postage.

Fixed quote within one hour. You pay only after you accept it.

Both Directions

Apostille Translator Cover For UK Records Going Abroad And Back

Apostille work usually runs out of English, as UK records go abroad in Spanish, Italian or Greek. Sometimes it runs the other way, when you need to translate an apostilled document for a UK office.

Old records with faded seals or handwriting are welcome. Every mark is described where it sits on the page.

Checks First

Translation And Legalisation Company Checks Before Anything Is Sealed

Once an apostille is attached, fixing a typo means repeating the notary and FCDO stages. So the careful work happens early. These checks run before any apostille translation UK set leaves us.

  • Destination Checked First

We confirm the destination uses apostilles at all, or needs embassy legalisation instead. Choosing the wrong route can mean paying twice.

  • Two-Person Accuracy Check

Before the notary is booked, a second linguist reads the whole translation again, looking hard at names, dates and numbers. Catching a slip here costs nothing; catching it later costs a new apostille.

  • Names As In Your Passport

Foreign registries match names letter by letter. Names follow the original, and non-Latin scripts use your passport spelling. Where a Latin-script original differs, we add a short linking note.

  • Tracked Paper Set

The apostilled set is a physical document. We send it by tracked post and email a scan, so you always know where it is.

Ordering Doubts

Translate Apostilled Documents: Country, Copy And Error Answers

Paying for three offices in one order raises fair worries: which paper gets the apostille, posting abroad, timing. Answers on legalised document translation sit below. Message us if your own question is missing.

Ask a different question
My Original Already Has An Apostille. Does The Translation Need Another One?
It depends on the country. The apostille already on your original is translated too, exactly where it sits. Some offices also want the translation apostilled, others do not, so check and tell us, and we quote only what they ask.
Which Gets The Apostille: My Original Or The Translation?
Sometimes both. UK public documents such as birth certificates can be apostilled themselves, while the translation is apostilled through the notary. Send us the office's instructions and we follow them.
Do You Need My Original Document To Arrange The Apostille?
Usually not. The notary certifies our translator's signature, so we work from a clear scan. If the office also wants your original apostilled, we explain how to send it safely and add that step to the quote.
The Spanish Consulate Wants A Sworn Translation Too. Can You Combine That?
Yes. Our traductores jurados hold appointments from the Spanish foreign ministry and prepare the sworn translation for Spanish offices. The FCDO apostille goes on your UK document in the same order and quote.
Is An E-Apostille Possible For A Translation?
Sometimes. The FCDO issues e-Apostilles on digitally signed papers, and some countries accept them. Ask the receiving office first, then tell us, and we check whether your set can go that way.
Two Offices Abroad Both Want The Paper Set. Can One Set Be Shared?
No. An apostille is fixed to one set and the pages must stay joined. Order two sets instead, and the second notary public translation and apostille are added to the same quote.
What If The Office Abroad Finds An Error After The Apostille Is Attached?
Let us know inside 14 days of delivery. Where the mistake is ours, we correct it free of charge and explain how the notary and FCDO stages will be handled before anything is redone.
